is christianity a philosophy or a religion?

Cliff Tyre: Listen carefully,We need to distinguish between heaven, where the souls of the faithful go, awaiting the resurrection of our bodies, and our final destination, which is the new earth. The problem with supposing animals can go to heaven is that their souls aren't immortal. They don't survive the death of their bodies. However, there is a possibility their bodies may be revived at the end of time.Remember, it's Catholic teaching that, when Christ returns, there will be a general resurrection, when all creation will be renewed (Romans 8:18-23). Revelation 21:1 speaks of a new heaven and a new earth, and Isaiah 11:6-9 of animals living at peace with one another and with man. This leaves open the possibility that, in this universal renovation, when our bodies are raised, God will raise the bodies of animals also, particularly our former pets, since this would contribute to our happiness.Avoid all the negative views people show toward animals and their lifeless soul,! the latter is purely ignorance.

Vernon Martorana: Christianity is often viewed as one of the world’s major religions, but Christianity also offers a philosophy of life that has greatly influenced Western society for nearly two thousand years. Thus, to ignore Christianity in the study of philosophy is a great mistake.

Alexis Reyer: the world calls it that but i just see it as obeying God the father

Brittney Inabnit: Religion.

Donnell Nocella: I got a big time raise~ And a fat bonus!! So I am excited!!

Lupe Sancen: I've begun thinking of going to law school.I'm pretty excited, too.

Shon Almquist: First, a definition is in order: what is Purgatory?Purgatory is not Hell minus a few torments and degrees Fahrenheit; it's not Heaven minus joy. It's not a "Third Final Destination" of souls. Purgatory is simply the place where already saved souls are cleansed of the temporal effects of sin before they are allowed to see the holy face of Almight! y God. Revelation 21:27 tells us that "...nothing unclean will! enter [Heaven]." That there are temporal effects of sin is obvious when one considers that even those who have been baptized, who have a deep and intimate relationshp with Jesus, who are the "elect" or "the saved/being saved," or what have you, are subject to pain, work, death and sickness. The best way to understand the idea of already being forgiven but still having to be cleansed of the temporal effects of sin is by analogy: imagine you are the parent of a 7-year old child who steals a candy bar from the local grocery. The child is repentant, in tears, sobbing his apologies. You, being the good parent (as God, our Father is!) forgive that child and love him and show him your mercy. But being a good parent means that you are also just and will expect that child to pay back the store. Purgatory is God's way of forgiving us, loving us, showing us His mercy and justice -- and making us "pay back the store." Can you imagine what would happen to the child of a parent who never! expected that child to "pay back the store" (especially when that same parent believed also that there was nothing that child could do to become "disinherited," as in the "once saved, always saved" doctrine)? Purgatory is His way of ensuring that Revelation 21:27 is true and that nothing unclean will see Heaven. It is only through Christ's sacrifice that we are shown this mercy! It is Christ and Christ alone Who allows us access to the Father. OK, so where's the word "Purgatory" in the Bible? It's isn't in the Bible, but neither are the words "Trinity," "abortion," and "cloning" (or "Rapture," for that matter), and it doesn't matter whether you call the process of purgation "purgatory" or the "Final Theosis": the concept of a "final cleansing" or "purgation" for those who require it is very evident in the Bible, in the writings of the early Church Fathers, and in the Old Testament religion whence Christianity sprang. Daniel 12:2, Matthew 12:32, 1 Corinthians 3:13-15, 2 Tim! othy 1:16-18, Hebrews 12:14, Hebrews 12:22-23, 1 Peter 4:6 and Revelati! on 21:10, 27 all speak of Purgatory in their telling of the need for purification, prayers for the dead, Christ's preaching to the dead, or how nothing unclean will see God.

Benita Nancy: It really comes down to the individual, but it should be more spiritual than either two .

Leisa Brodnex: Good question. Both, I think.A religion because it involves prayers, ceremony and worship.A philosophy, because it's originator was teaching a way of life.SUDHAKAR - very well said, sir....Show more

Kellie Waycott: Bill O'Riley can blow what he normally says out his mouth through his ***. It's a religion.

Blaine Connett: Christianity is a Religion. Most religions are based on some kind of philosophy about the nature of existence, the nature of divinity, and the relationship between creation and divinity.

Dorine Nurre:

Alexander Villas: There is nothing new under the sun.

Jefferson Sarson: Animals and people have the same spirit and both have th! e same eventuality. Both return to the dust from which they came. Both humans and animals ARE souls, it's not something immortal within us. Souls die. Ezekiel 18:4. Ecclesiastes 3:18-21 The spirit of animals and humans return to the true God who gave it. The spirit is our life force that keeps us living and is the same for animals. Man does not go to heaven either although 144,000 have been chosen by God to serve in heaven, they will become new creations. Man was created to reside on the earth, this is our home. When the resurrection comes, men who have died will be resurrected back to life on a restored paradise earth as God intended from the beginning. God's purpose for the earth has not changed. God intended for the earth to be a paradise filled with righteous people for all eternity, man was not created to die but live forever.

Coleman Senn: All religions are philosophies.

Alane Antes: Why is it that they don't go to heaven, or why don't they have a soul..Go! d made man in his own image, and man has a body, soul, and spirit..Anim! als are just animals and don't have to worry about where they go after death. They are just fine..Will animals be in Heaven, we don't know. Will animals be in the new earth, yes they will.

Lou Rought: well, my freind who is rely religius said thare are diffrent kinds of "animals" in heaven isntead of the ones we know. but i think its unfair (if thay rely dont get to go to heaven) that thay were created and dont even get to go to heaven. thare hear one day then thay die and *poof* out like a candle?

Nelly Kikuchi: The question about animals is not really addressed in the bible, but some things can be inferred.Since God created the world, he knew that humans would enjoy animals and designed them to be companions for us. Since we love animals, and heaven is a reward, there is a very good chance that there are indeed, animals in heaven. If you are asking if your dog spot, will go to heaven when he dies..that's another matter. I believe animals, as all plants etc. ar! e part of the earth and their bodies will remain here.

Tana Dumoulin: I'm one day closer to heaven...How about you?

Cody Petrulis: Animals will not go to heaven because they have no soul. Heaven was created for mankind not animals. A persons soul is what gives you the ability to tell right from wrong after you reach the age of recognition The age of recognition is when a child realizes sin and right from wrong. Animals do not know right from wrong. Also God blew the breath of life into Adam. My understanding is God used part of his soul to start Adam.

Matt Tiry: Yeah, thanks for asking. Got family drama and I am waiting a home grant. What is new with you?

Eli Trapeni: ps:freind said thare were diffrent kinds of animals in heaven than earth after i asked "if thares no animals in heaven then is heaven a blank concreat parking lot?"

Tommy Durrenberger: iqbal:why would animals be punished for killing other animals and we arnt, when we kill! and eat (as do thay) animals. if anything, animals are more "humane" a! bout it. the animal has lived its life and then is cause, killed, and ate. we keep them in bad conditions, limited living space, and then sometimes the ways of slaughter are cruel. does that mean all humans who have fed upon flesh of animals killed by the corpate market will burn in hell?

Chris Wilczewski: "We do not know God's plans for creation, including animals and plants. A hint that creation may be glorified at the end of time can be found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church:... It is possible that God may re-create and glorify creation, including animals and plants. We may hope then that it may be possible to meet deceased animal friends in the next life."

Season Confalone: It certainly is not a philosophy. Philosophy means the love of wisdom; Christianity is little on love and less on wisdom.

Lorine Helwick: hi, i heard that animals dont go to heaven because thay have no soul. why is that?

Kenneth Queener: Nope, because my life is pretty! uneventful at this point.

Justin Casten: Purgatory means?Whats is it? What's it like?x's and o's♥ashley♥

Faustino Mellerson: I don't know that animals will not be allowed in Heaven. Obviously human beings were the only "animal" that was made to have a soul, because we were make in God's own image. But what about the point that Jesus rides a white horse when He comes back to earth to fight Satan? And the saints that are with Him will be on them too. So evidently there will be some there.

Terrell Lawman: What does one gain if they have the whole world, but lose their soul.

Gordon Showes: Aww are muslims barred from answering this question?oh pooh, I'm still going to answer!Animals do have souls and yes I have been taught and do believe that everything created by God chants or sings His praise. Using the Islamic liturgical term, everything in the universe performs Dhikr [remembrance/awareness of God]: mammals, birds, fish, trees, and grass. Even roc! ks perform Dhikr, not only human beings.recent research indicates that ! while animals not blessed with human Reason, they are capable to some limited degree of deciding to do one thing or another. In other words, their behavior is not totally governed by instinct. Adding to the confusion is the recognition that animals exhibit emotion. Perhaps theirs is not the same range of emotion as that of humans, but it is undeniable that our dogs and cats, and perhaps even our fish and turtles, display affection, experience loneliness and the need for companionship, and even feel loss. I am not certain there are definitive answers to any or all of the questions raised thus far.

Gerardo Greist: christianity is a "philosophy", but in its most literal definition, "the love of wisdom". Jesus is the incarnation of the logos, the true wisdom of God. the church is the bride of christ, the lover of the logos, the wisdom.

Omar Phipps: lol you watched bill o riley too !!!!! thats why im asking

Brice Greczkowski: They are living souls, which retu! rns to the earth from whence they came. But this is only my opinion and no-one knows for sure what happens to animals after they die.

Indira Wassell: "im doing ok"

Elli Esaw: It can be either, or both.Peace and Namaste!

Curt Broadhead: Ask Bill O'Reilly.http://www.theblaze.com/stories/bill-oreilly-and-a...

Hal Rouse: Here is another proof that Christianity is incomplete without including all the Gospels, such as Gospel of Barnabas. In that Gospel, Jesus tells his followers. On the day of Judgment Arch Angel Gabriel will announce and his voice will be heard by billions of creation. " Oh Creatures. Come ! Your Lord God will now take account of your deeds. "Note the word " creatures" which denotes Man, Jinn and animals. Holy prophet Muhammad has also said that animals will be revived and those who injured or killed another animal, will be punished. Then they will cease to exist. The dog of people of cave will be an exception, as it will go to par! adise along with its masters. ! Muhammad Javed Iqbal

Leontine Kreitz: no He is the same yesterday, today, and forever...

Malcom Fenoff: pmaxu you must have dishnetwork, i watch theblaze with glennbeck in the morning.

Joie Libutti: Learin' more about truth.
