Kenneth Queener: Strathclyde Police has many fine traditions and an outstanding reputation which extends beyond the efficient and professional approach to police duties into the area of sport and recreational pursuits as organised under the auspices of the Force's Recreation Association.The Association, while an independent and self-funding body, plays an important role within the structure of the Force. Its activities are many and varied, ranging from the provision of recreational and welfare equipment within police offices to generous financial support given to Divisions and recognised Sections' as well as to individual members. This level of support is amply reflected in the numerous and distinguished honours gained by members over a broad spectrum of sporting activities.The cost of membership is deducted directly from pay. Currently the rates are £6.93 per month. Membership permits the full use of all the A! ssociationâs facilities throughout the Force area, with reciprocal arrangements with Police Forces throughout the United Kingdom; the right to participate in the organised activities of the 37 ârecognised Sectionsâ (catering for a total of 34 sports/pastimes) and access to its Registered Social Club....Show more
