Darrin Hixenbaugh: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Amild...Did they make people invest in them? They made people form these companies? How did that process work? According to Conservatives in my former question, sub-prime mortgage companies were forced by the government to make sub-prime mortgages. So they forced them to do what they were formed to do in the first place! That is like saying the government forced GM to sell cars. And at this point I should be thinking how intellectually superior you are to me!...Show more
Wilburn Denice: And here I thought that just about any lender could make sub-prime mortgage loans to those people who couldn't obtain loans elsewhere! The government did force banks, etc., to loan out sub-prime home loans to the poorer people in this country whose credit ratings prevented them from getting regular mortgage loans. If the banks refused to do the government would have penalized them. Liberals wanted to help create their ! "golden society" in this fashion. All that they created was one huge mess for everyone else to clean up after them. What bugs me is that those responsible will never apologize to the nation....Show more
Ronald Moehr: Internet polls are highly unscientific and very easy to manipulate. It's very easy to vote multiple times to tip the results.Polls conducted by real pollsters (Gallup, et al) are much more credible.

Jeannine Vassie: No most versions of the same question get the same answer.
Salvatore Walls: Does that mean I have to read them?
Shaunta Paap: No i don't accept as true with all of it tha! t is going to do is inspire people who can not have sufficient money them to have little ones. it is going to additionally placed a burden on the mum and dad of the little ones who do not desire to artwork have you ever heard the asserting you could lead a horse to water yet you could not make it drink. If we want keep money the 1st element we ought to continuously is make all those on the dole do vital community artwork then watch them get a job speedy clever We additionally ought to reintroduce a respectable apprenticeship scheme that gets teenagers that are actually not college minded right into a commerce whilst they are youthful having to end 12 months 12 is a humorous tale. Coleman Ocegueda: No. With 2,366,499 votes it looks like 80% are really beginning to get this guy's number. And I remember when he told the bank! ers that only he stood between them and the pitch-forked mobs. Maybe that's just mostly correct.
Lindsey Zanardi: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoMub...
Emile Okafor: ugh.It all started with the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, signed into law by Carter. The meat of the issue is something that everyone can get behind and something that anyone would laud a politician for doing--getting more people into homes. However, legacy-building quickly took away from the common sense and economics of the issue, and it became a "I don't care what it takes..." kind of measure by 1995. By some accounts, some groups such as ACORN--who can also be praised to a certain extent for trying to get people into houses--used political pressure in front of Washington to get mortgage underwriters to write loans for lower income families, who, statistically, consisted largely of minorities. This is--according to the opinions of many including myself--what led the gro! ups like ACORN to get corporations to collapse. We see it in everyday ! America....if you call someone a racist, they'll trip over themselves to prove you wrong. This is what began happening with many of the mortgage companies.Instead of adhering to proper lending principles, they buckled to the pressure of groups who knew nothing of the ins-and-outs of the mortgage industry simply to prove to a non-profit that they were not--in fact--racist. Now, the dichotomy of it is how it related to changes within Wall Street and how accepting Washington was of buying sub-prime mortgages because essentially, no one checked the amount of debt that Freddie and Fannie Mae could take on and they made them the whores of real estate...buying every bit of real estate that they could get in hopes of making a dime off of the interest paid.Funny thing happened though, and no one paid! So now, you and I control most of the housing in America by proxy as investors in the United States government and Freddie and Fannie Mae. There is no such thing as a sub-prim! e mortgage company--not even Countrywide. A sub-prime mortgage is an instrument used within lending. What happened was the forced hand of using more of these instruments than was necessary or even economically feasible.Out of curiosity, have you asked any questions about how soon Franklin Raines or Angelo Mozillo should be in prison? Have you asked about why Angelo Mozillo and Chris Dodd were so close? Have you looked into the hearings in 1995 regarding the CRA '77?...Show more
Jene Licausi: Its not all the government's fault. But we should not exempt them from any kind of blame either. The government did create a market for this, through the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), which put pressure on banks to loan to those that would not normally be able to acquire a lonan. The banks were able to package these loans and sell them off to other financial institutions and made big profits. The cause is not as simple as it appears on the surface, and the banks and govern! ment are both at fault....Show more
Anton Waln: i dont like intern! et polls.. but if i had taken it, id put his plans r hurting than helping. during the election, both cnn and fox claimed that their candidates were winning by a landslide, when obama won by 3%
Percy Seiger: Sub-Prime Mortgage lending came about in early 2007 as a result of a Bill Sponsored by Dodd (D-CN) (now chairman of the banking committee) to stimulate the current down swing in new home building and purchases. This bill opened the gate to sub-pime through the FHA.
Samara Siewers: Well, they are inbred, if that's what you mean. I mean inbred like fruit flies are inbred.
Nona Lentini: Semantics my friend. The government created a need amongst the mortgage industry to lend to sub-prime borrowers. Mortgage lenders were told that failure to balance their books in favor of lower quality risk would be an indication of bias (well sure, bias towards better risk but leave that aside for the moment). The fact that some companies were created to take advantag! e of the artificial demand does not relieve the government of its share of the responsibility for this mess.In the end, companies were told that they would be hit with charges of racism if they didn't loosen the bonds on mortgages. The ensuing collapse would seem to indicate that the problem really was risk and not race. Please get your head out of the sand and look at what being quota driven does to a country....Show more
Agustina Stimmel: Not really. I never take internet polls seriously.
Carolynn Testani: Banks were forced to have a certain percentage of their loans be to low income folks. Because most lon income folks can't afford these loans, the end result was the sub-prime mortgage. But the mess was bipartisanship. Repealing certain regulations at the same time created the perfect scenerio for this to happen. We need fewer, but smarter regulations....Show more
Pearlie Medora: It is true that if mortgage companies did not underwrite a minimum of a %! of sub prime loans, the mortgage companies would lose access to Fannie ! Mae and Freddie Mac. Mortgage companies underwrite the loan sell it to Fannie Mae and get paid to service the loan. How many loans could a mortgage company underwrite if they kept them all?
Julee Lanham: Well -well- well......to quote Reagan when hearing brain fart questions....."Here ya go again".Go ask Barnie Frank & Chris Dodd who were in bed with Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac. Who was President at that time making headline news about home ownership and the "american dream".Then cater hybrid junk investment notes selling BS morgage instruments to $15 hr workers 1/2 of whom couldn't speak English, with no income verifications, no asset discoveries and no banking data.Sign the dotted lines, here's your keys, enjoy your new home. Until........the hybrid note terms converted to regular FHA payment structures. Then what happened? Chit.....grab the little ones and let's walk.5,000,000 forclosures later, her comes billions of bail outs. Fannie and Freddie are under federal ! investigation.....Barnie's out and will not run for re-election while Chris acts like nothing happened as he uses his BS overpowering attitude to spin his way out of the toilet - which no one byes anymore....Show more
Natalya Sydney: Yeah imagine that. Someone that isn't afraid to reach across the aisle when necessary. Most people just agree with whatever other people in their party tell them to believe.
Dexter Gold: actually the government encouraged them under the left's failed belief that all Americans should be able to own their own home.of course since MANY Americans can't actually afford that, the govt encouraged banks to give out sub-prime loans, under the presumption that the home could ONLY go up in value and the increase in value would cover the difference....Of course we all know the housing bubble burst...and the people, the banks, and the govt all got shafted....Show more
Stanton Valdivia: Quick, Somebody inform the Mainstream Media!!Doesn't! surprise me at all
Dorris Homola: Not very. Most people have ha! d those opinions and it is heard everyday, in most evey place, except the MSM.
Vickie Clampett: A better set of questions would be: Why do Dem.s always try and avoid owning up to the damage they've done? and Why do Dem.s insist on keeping or actually promoting those people who created these financial disasters?
Evelin Turlich: Garbage wont open eyes...
Providencia Serpe: poor insane quit-caribou. One wonders how long it will be until s/he finally commits suicide. And then one wonders how long it'll take the building super to finally notice the stench. I'm guessing 10 weeks before anyone misses the beast.
Shelley Stevens: you must have read it wrong she is not that smart
Eli Trapeni: I normally don't pay attention to polls but this one does coincide with the belief more and more people are getting towards economic recovery and how the Dems think it should be done. Pres. Bush unfortunately started this train rolling with the bailouts so yes, h! e does have some blame in this, but instead of trying things another way that doesn't involve mass amounts of our hard earn money, the Dems turned the runaway train into a irresistable force that they hope cannot be stopped before they get all the money they want for their pet projects. Be damned what it'll do to the American people, they want what they want and are stopping at nothing to achieve that end....Show more
