Horoscopes and How they Work?

Coleman Coscia: http://seriouslyforreal.com/funny/a-very-accurate-...

Tana Dumoulin: do not know

Morris Cuomo: There are thousands of horoscopes in print and online. All are vague and can apply to anyone. Which one of these writers is the accurate one? The one you personally like best at the time?"What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof." â€" Christopher Hitchens

Aldo Decurtis: A horoscope (birth chart) is calculated for where the zodiac and planets were, as they appeared from the birth place, at the time of birth.A "horoscope" in the newspaper or magazine is not actually a "horoscope" (see above). This is how they do it. We will use the sign of Aries as an example.Draw up the circle chart form for a horoscope. As the rising sign (Ascendant), put Aries on the cusp of the first house. Then put the next sign, Taurus, on the second cusp. And the next sign (Gemini) on the 3rd cusp ... etc... until all 12 houses each have the ap! propriate sign on their cusp.Next you take each planet, where it is now, and put it into the chart. For instance, today Moon is in Leo, so you'd write in Moon into the 5th house (for an Aries "horoscope"). And Venus conjunct Mars in Libra, puts those planets in the Aries 7th house. You do this for all the planets and then try to figure out something to say about it. The Moon is used the most for the interpretation, because Moon only spends 2.5 days in a sign and makes aspects to other planets as it moves from the beginning of the sign to the end of the sign. While a planet that moves slowly, such as Pluto, stays in a sign for an average of 15 years ... no big changes there from day to day ... every horoscope would sound the same for 15 years if you only used Pluto. The trouble is ... for everyone who has their Sun in Aries, they only have Moon in their 5th house if they have Aries rising. So the horoscope for Aries only really fits those who have Aries rising, regardles! s of what their Sun sign is.Why do they do this? You can't ma! ke the "horoscope" for the person's Rising Sign, even though that is who the interpretations apply for, because almost no one knows their Rising Sign, and you would have no audience. The only "planet" that is in the same sign at the same time every year is the Sun Sign. Everyone knows what date they were born, so everyone can figure out what their Sun sign is (just to make sure, the horoscope writer usually puts the date range for each Sun sign right there). If you think horoscopes are accurate, this is very scary, because they really have no basis on astrological practice or theory. They are just a way to entertain people and to make money. However, it is possible that your Sun-Sign is ALSO your Rising Sign, in which case the "horoscope" would be astrologically sound, and that could explain why you think they are accurate....Show more
