Serena Doak: As well as buying the car, and the gas, you also need to insure it and pay for repairs. Work on maybe 2X the gas cost to keep a car running. You could end spending ~$100 a month JUST on insurance for the car. If you have good cheap public transport it's usually much cheaper than running a car.
