Cell Phone Plan on 3G?

Silvia Stclair: As far as I know, most all cell phones are 3G now. The only ones that aren't are the low grade phones that you can't really surf the net on. If you got one on their plan, there would be and extra charge on your part of the bill. That's really all I can tell you. Good luck!

Cordia Fivecoat: In order to utilize the full potential of "3G," you really need to get an internet plan. If you don't plan on getting an internet plan, having 3G won't really be an issue. You can get a 3G capable phone on their plan with no problem (all AT&T sim cards are already 3G capable). If you want 3G internet, you will have to pay $15 extra per month (unless your family plan already has family unlimited texting, then they give you a $5 discount making it $10/month). So paying for your own line will be $10/month for the line + $15 or $10 depending on your circumstance = ~$20 or $25 per month. If they don't already have family texting, then plan on adding $20/month for unlimi! ted texting (~$45/month total). Or you could just skip the texting and pay $10 for the line and $15 for the 3G internet = $25/month.Good luck in your decision!...Show more

Sharri Scalley: My parents have a cell phone plan with AT&T, and they are going to make me pay for my own cell phone. So I'm wanting to add a line to their plan and I know that they don't have a 3G plan, do you have to pay extra for 3G? Or can I even get a 3G phone on their plan?
