Words and wordplay: what does my friend mean?

Felipa Nosis: Your friend's remark means "The chlorine is put into the water to cleanse it by removing or neutralizing germs, and everyone knows that small children are not the cleanest creatures on earth, therefore the chlorine will be kept busy for the next half hour or so." This is a good, witty comment in response to that, and one which is guaranteed to have your friend laughing for many minutes: "Just don't use the water to make a cup of tea afterwards."

Bethanie Menden: I can only imagine it is meant that many children wee a lot, and hopefully the chlorine will kill the bugs for other swimmers.
